Founded by volunteers in 1978, Seacoast Hospice was the first hospice in New Hampshire. Today it remains an independent, non-profit hospice and holds fast to the tradition of meeting the emotional, social, and spiritual care needs of the dying and bereaved in Rockingham and Strafford Counties in New Hampshire and in surrounding communities including Southern Maine

March 2007 marked the opening of Seacoast Hospice's Hyder Family Hospice House, the state of New Hampshire's largest, and the seacoast region's first and only inpatient hospice house. Owned and operated by Seacoast Hospice, the hospice house is located in Dover, NH, has 14 beds, and cares for over 250 people per year.

Historically, Seacoast Hospice has succeeded because of the tremendous support received from community volunteers and donors. It remains a true community owned hospice.
